Greg’s Story

The Greg Ambrose Charity Classic was founded to honor the memory of Greg Ambrose. Greg passed on August 11th, 2016 at the age of 59 after a heroic battle against cancer. A devoted businessman, family man and loyal friend; Greg always sought the best in people. He placed great emphasis on family, and hailed the business in the same manner; always striving to make each employee a part of it. He worked hard on strategies to improve the lives of all employees, often times choosing employees over profit. Greg was the person you could count on, whether it was operating a fork truck, processing orders, or negotiating a contract. He was able to guide and teach in a manner that made you feel like you were helping him.

Greg started his selling career at an early age. When he was 8 years of age the neighbor raised tomatoes. Greg put them in a little red wagon and set off through the neighborhood to sell to anybody he saw. He always came home with an empty wagon.

In 1980, Greg moved back to Olathe, KS from a successful sales career in Indiana to work with his father, Norman, in the steel and aluminum business. Greg played an integral part in growing Ambrose Sales to a collection of three businesses making up Ambrose Companies. Today, Ambrose Sales, Ambrose Packaging and Excellart Sign Products are industry leaders with long-standing relationships between customers, vendors, and business partners. He was thankful every day for those relationships and worked hard to ensure his sons, Matt and Michael, valued those same relationships.

Through the many years of deliberating procedures, surgeries and treatments, Greg remained positive, strove to stay strong and retained his sense of humor. He fought as one of God’s warriors battling Satan himself. He was “Iron Man” to many. Please help us carry on his legacy of helping others and join us in the battle against cancer. Your generous support is much appreciated.

Family Reach

Braden’s Hope’s mission is to raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer research to advance cures for children. Their purpose is to accelerate the fight against childhood cancer by funding research across the Midwest to ensure no family hears the words “no known cure” during their fight with cancer. Fore more information, visit www.bradenshope.org

We donated $70,000 at the 2022 GACC to help provide families with direct financial assistance. Our support has made a tremendous difference for the families during this difficult time.

Since our first year in 2017, we have donated over $350,000, to families battling pediatric cancer.

2024 will be an incredible year for the GACC as we welcome a new partner, Braden’s Hope For Childhood Cancer (link to their website). Childhood Cancer Research is grossly underfunded and receives less than 4% of the National Cancer Institute’s budget. Alongside Bradens Hope, we’ll work to increase this number at the 2024 GACC.
